July First Friday features the Spokane debut exhibit by artist Bergen. Bergen began painting on canvas so he would not be arrested for painting graffiti on walls.  Since then, he has explored different themes and processes but his passion for "writing" remains.  In his most recent works, he defines graffiti as American Calligraphy and emphasizes the unique contributions and impact that this art form has had on contemporary aesthetics.
