Final Friday Closing Celebration for James Dhillon’s exhibit “Explorations”.
Please join us on Friday, September 25th, from 4 to 7, for the Final Friday Closing Celebration of “Explorations, New Works by James Dhillon”. This is the last weekend of the show, and Dhillon will be on hand from 4 to 7 pm to discuss the work and explain his techniques. There is also a silent auction of artwork donated by local artists, with 100% of proceeds going to the H.O.M.E Starts Here Fund, aiding community members affected by the Spokane Complex Wildfires. Dhillon is also donating 50% of his earnings from the exhibit to the HOME Starts Here Fund.
Opening Reception for "Drunken Boxing", featuring the mixed-media artwork of Blake Liliane Hellman
Please join us on Friday, October 2nd, for the opening of Drunken Boxing, a new exhibit of mixed-media paintings by Spokane Artist Blake Liliane Hellman. Drunken boxing is a martial arts discipline of deliberate imbalance. The fighter trains rigorously, then lets that training go. It is a method of practiced relaxation, a devious carelessness. A misstep is not weakness, it is process in disguise. That same tension between discipline and surrender runs through Blake Hellman’s paintings. The handling strives for looseness - paint and materials are transferred, lifted, collaged, and reworked through an off-kilter dance between instinct and control. What emerges is neither chaos nor order but the gap between them - the moment when conscious control abates just long enough to disarm both artist and viewer. “Drunken Boxing” opens on October 2nd, and runs until October 30th, at D2 Gallery.
First Friday Opening Reception for "Explorations, New Work by James Dhillon"
Please join us on Friday, September 4th, for the Opening Reception of "Explorations, New Works by James Dhillon”. James Dhillon was the first artist to exhibit at D2 Gallery in May, 2025., and has been working on this new body of expressive and immersive non-objective paintings since then. The opening is from 5 to 8, and will feature a performance by David Larsen and his jazz combo, plus a raffle of artwork generously donated by our fellow artists, with 100% of the proceeds for the City of Spokane's H.O.M.E. Starts Here Fund, helping those affected by the Spokane Wildfires. In addition, James will be donating 50% of the sales of his artwork to the H.O.M.E. Fund. Please join us for a full evening of art, music and giving as we welcome an old friend back to the gallery!
Opening Reception for "Targets", a Mixed-Media Installation by Michael Dinning at D2 Gallery
This August, D2 Gallery & Studio is proud to present “Targets”, a thought provoking installation of mixed-media artwork by Michael Dinning. Targets is a mediation on a world turned upside down, where entire groups of people have become targets, empathy is discouraged, kindness is seen as weakness and cruelty is normalized. Targets also explores historical aspects that have shaped country we have become, and how to navigate back to a place of understanding and tolerance. As part of the exhibit, D2 will also feature a video installation by Iranian artist Ghazal Abassi, as a preview for her solo exhibit of photography this December, 2026. D2 Gallery will be closed for the first week of August, so will be presenting the opening for Targets on August 14th, from 5 to 8. This exhibit will run from August 14th to August 29th.
Opening Reception for “Compare & Contrast”
Please join us on Friday, July 10th, for the Second Friday opening of Compare & Contrast, an exhibit of photography and sculpture by Missoula artist Karen Rice and Spokane artist Cori Schuman. On the face of it, the subtle and evocative Cyanotype Prints of Karen Rice and the vibrant, maximalist Ceramic Sculptures of Cori Schuman could not be more different. Dig Deeper though, and you’ll find two artists who are working outside of the beaten path in their chosen mediums, finding individually unique and very personal visions.
Carl Richardson “Cypher” Artist Talk
Please join us on Wednesday, June 24th, at 6:00 PM, for an Artist Talk by Spokane artist and educator Carl Richardson in support of his exhibit “Cypher” at D2 Gallery. Carl will discuss the work in the show, his methods and motivations, and take questions from the audience. This will be an excellent opportunity to hear from, and talk to, an icon in the Spokane art world and educational community.
First Friday Opening of "A Rattletrap Sailboat", artwork by Benjamin Heiken
This May, D2 Gallery is extremely proud to present the artwork of Spokane artist Benjamin Heiken in his new exhibit "A Rattletrap Sailboat". Heiken's brutal use of collage and haphazard brushstrokes in his paintings evokes a sort of violence, which mirrors his personal struggle to reveal subconscious feelings about his existential place in the world. This abstract work is complex, messy, intuitive and thought provoking, and this will be a stellar local exhibit by an artist who typically exhibits his work in New York, London and Los Angeles. First Friday Opening Reception is on May 1st, from 5 to 8, and "A Rattletrap Sailboat" shows through the end of the month.
Last Saturday Artist Talk with Elisha Harteis
Two Weeks from tonight, on April 25th, at 6:00, Missoula artist Elisha Harteis will be back in town to give our first ever Final Saturday Artist Talk! This will be a great opportunity to meet Elisha, ask her about her stunning exhibit "Cry Baby", hear her talk about the concepts and motivations behind her work, and get one last chance to see this exhibit. First Friday Opening Reception for "her", an exhibit of works of art and poetry by Janelle Victoria
Join us on Friday, January 9th, for the opening reception of “her”, an exhibit of artwork and poetry by Janelle Victoria. This ephemeral multi-media exhibit will present minimal, figurative works of watercolor coupled with original poems about womanhood, the arc of girlhood, and how everything shifts. The exhibit will open on January 2nd and run until January 31st.

Join Us on Saturday, December 13th, at 2:00, for an Artist Talk by Lauren Urlacher. Lauren will be discussing the works and processes that produced her stunning exhibit “Fleuron”.
First Friday "Glimmers", Artwork and Poetry by Karen Mobley
In November, D2 Gallery is presenting our new exhibit "Glimmers", featuring the work of Karen Mobley. This exhibits reflects on the glimpses of the spiritual, the magical, the positive in a time of sadness and conflict. These are works that show what is seen through the cracks in the window, the gap in the door, the quick glimpse across the yard or out of the car window. "Glimmers" opens on First Friday, November 7th, and runs until November 29th.
"Entangled Lives" Artist Talk by Ildikó Kalapács
D2 is proud to present an Artist Talk by Spokane artist Ildikó Kalapács. She will be discussing her new exhibit "Entangled Lives", a deeply personal and moving collection of artwork, including paintings, drawings and sculptures, that explores Ildikó's relationship with nature and her Hungarian heritage. Please join us for what will be a compelling and informative discussion of this beautiful and immersive exhibit, by an artist who fearlessly explores her past and honestly expresses what means most to her.
"Jazz Conversation" performance featuring Ken Peplowski
D2 gallery presents a wonderful evening of music played by jazz legend Ken Peplowski. He will be joined by saxophonist David Larsen and Pianist Tom Shook. They will be performing jazz classics from the Great American Song Book, Broadway hits and more! Enjoy a relaxed evening at D2 Gallery and have a rare chance to experience this jazz master up close. $10 suggested donation at door, doors open at 7, performance starts at 7:30.
