"My Inspiration is the fluid grace of nature. I'm drawn to organic lines, authentic materials, layers that reveal patterns that make the eye dance. My artistic creation involves engaging all senses, capturing the soul and heartbeat of emotions, and bringing them to life. My work can be quiet but still have a impact, it can be serious but still be whimsical.”

Justin Ellis mixed media art is as rich in color, layers and technique as it is in imagination and meaning. Growing up in Charlotte, NC, creating art was a family affair. Justin's father would often sit and draw with him, he and his brother would collaborate on their own comic strips, and his mom was a crafter. Justin knew he wanted to pursue art, and did so through school at Northwest School of the Arts and later at The Art Institute of Raleigh, Durham. Although he has been creating art since his youth, Justin emerged during the pandemic as a favorite not just at the Brooklyn Collective, where his art studio resides, but in the community. With the support, guidance, and space to create, Justin's art has flourished. His unique style has been showcased at the Mint Museum in uptown Charlotte, the McColl Center, the Light Factory, Sozo Gallery, Miami Art Basel 2021 and recently as a featured artist at the Harlem Art Fair in New York. Justin currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. Justin’s March show at D2 will mark his debut showing on the West Coast.
