“I am Ghazal Abbasi, a photographer based in Shiraz, Iran. My work explores themes of identity, cultural heritage, and the tension between tradition and modernity. Beginning my journey with street and documentary photography, I later transitioned into fine art and conceptual photography. My artistic approach is deeply influenced by semiotics, visual storytelling, and the philosophy of image-making.

My philosophy is a dialogue between the past and present, a visual exploration of identity, solitude, and transformation. I often merge traditional elements with contemporary narratives, creating layered compositions that invite interpretation. Through my lens, I aim to document not just what is seen but what is felt - echoes or memories, traces of lost traditions, and the fragile balance between individual and collective experience.”

D2 is proud and honored to present the work of Ghazal Abbasi. Although Ghazal is an emerging artist in Iran, her work has been featured in numerous international publications, and included in exhibits in a wide variety of international locations, including shows in Dubai, Indonesia, London, Paris, Russia and the USA. She recently was the recipient of a microgrant from the London-based Crazy Peach Art Foundation; a program that supports experimental, conceptual, and research-focused projects dedicated to artists who are pushing the boundaries of artistic thought and expression.

Ghazal’s August 2026 exhibit at D2 will mark her first solo exhibit outside of Iran.

More information about Ghazal can be found on her linktree site, https://linktr.ee/ghazalabbasi, and please contact D2 for any additional information about her and her work.
